Arab League chief starts official visit to Iraq

Baghdad ( – Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit started on Tuesday an official visit to Baghdad for talks with Iraqi officials on the latest regional and international developments.

Abul Gheit was received at Baghdad International Airport by Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim.

According to official Iraqi newspaper Alsabaah, Abul Gheit will discuss with senior Iraqi officials, topped by President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adil Abul Mahdi, means of combating terrorism and helping displaced families return to their homes.

The talks will also tackle Iraq’s presidency of the Arab ministerial council session, slated for September 10.

Earlier, Abul Gheit reiterated the pan-Arab body’s support for Iraq in the post-Islamic State era, as well as the reconstruction of Iraqi cities.
