Biden, Masoum discuss formation of next government

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The US Vice-President, Joseph Biden, discussed with the President, Fuad Masoum, in a phone call, the formation of the next government.

A statement by the White House received by IraqiNews.com cited “Biden phoned Masoum where he assured that reiterated President Obama’s commitment to assist and protect innocent Iraqi civilians trapped on Mount Sinjar and bolster Iraq’s ability to take the fight to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.”

He also emphasized, “The threat ISIL presented to all Iraqis and affirmed the U.S. commitment to support Iraq and all of its citizens – from north to south – as they work to defend the country against this international threat.”

Biden stressed that the new government should be formed on, “the constitutional timeline, including a national program that can help consolidate national forces against ISIL. ”

Masoum also thanked Biden for the support from the US government.
