CoM tasks FM to convey its rejection to Turkish side over shifting Turkish Kurds to Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Council of Minister tasked the Foreign Ministry to convey its rejection to the Turkish side over shifting the Turkish Kurds to Iraq.

A statement by the CoM received by IraqiNews.com cited “The CoM discussed, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, the deal between the Turkish government and the Kurdish opposition over moving the elements of the Kurdistani Workers’ Party to Iraq where it rejected this issue completely due to its effect on the sovereignty of Iraq.”

“The Iraqi government assures its rejection for moving any armed or unarmed PKK elements to its territories where it is a clear violation to the independence and sovereignty of Iraq and will affect the mutual relations between Turkey and Iraq,” the statement added.

“Iraq is submitting a claim to the International Security Council to do its task over sustaining peace and stability and have the suitable decision over this issue,” the statement pointed out, assuring that “The FM will contact the Arab League and the ISC in addition to the Islamic Cooperation Organization over this issue.”

“Iraq assures its right to defend its stability and independence according to the international laws,” the statement concluded.
