 Defense Ministry transfers 481 wounded personnel abroad

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday, Defense Ministry announced the formation of a special secretariat for the affairs of the army martyrs and wounded personnel, while pointed out that 481 of the wounded personnel will be transferred outside of Iraq and their treatment cost in international hospitals will be covered. The ministry decided to grant the family of each martyr 6 million dinars to cover the fees of his funeral.

The ministry said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “In response to the doubts surrounding the care for the martyrs’ families and the affairs of the wounded personnel, the Ministry of Defense formed a special secretariat for the affairs of the military martyrs and wounded personnel,” noting that, “The secretariat will work on transaction dating back to June 10, 2014 in addition to those of 2015, while completed the transaction of 265 officers of the martyrs. 2348 martyrs of other ranks and 11 martyrs of the civil staff.”

The ministry added, “We transferred 481 wounded personnel outside Iraq and covered the expenses of their treatment in international hospitals,” pointing out that, “A special ID had been issued for the wounded to facilitate their transaction in the different departments of the ministry, while granted each wounded 2 million dinars and covered all his treatment requirements.”

“As for martyrs, their salary will be transferred to the military retirement department after being listed in the martyrs’ database, in addition to 6 million dinars to cover the fees of his funeral,” the statement said.

Noteworthy, Minister of Defense Khaled al-Obeidi instructed to form an office for the affairs of the martyrs, while noted that the martyrs’ families have the priority in the ministry’s recruitment.
