Erbil (BasNews) The Kurdistan Region’s Independent High Electoral Commission has made it clear that no exact date is set for an independence referendum in Kurdistan region.

Jutyar Adil, member of the commission, explained to BasNews on Tuesday the recent reports claiming the referendum timetable is finalized are “false”.

According to the official, the electoral commission will work on the issue after it is officially asked to set the date. However, he says, a political decision is need at the initial stage.

He stated that the commission is able to set the ground for the independence referendum which Kurdish top officials had previously vowed to be held this year.
