FM participates in meetings of ministerial council of Arab League

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari chaired the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the meetings of the (141) of Arab League Council’s regular session at the ministerial level in Cairo on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

A statement received by Iraqi News cited “During the meeting, the Council considered the draft resolutions submitted by the Secretariat and several Arab countries on several key issues, including the reform and development of the Arab League and the developments of the situation in Syria, the mechanism of ministerial committees in addition to a draft resolution on international terrorism and ways to combat it.”

“Minister Zebari emphasized Iraq’s stance on the Syrian crisis and the emphasis on a political solution and the implementation of the Geneva Statement,” the statement added, noting that “The Arab Council at the ministerial level approved the draft resolution submitted by the Republic of Iraq on the establishment of the Arab Center for International Law.” “On the sidelines of the meeting Minister Zebari conducted several meetings with a number of foreign ministers and heads of Arab delegations. The delegation included Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, head of the Arab Dept and the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the Arab League,” the statement concluded.
