Hakim calls to support businessmen, activate relevant laws

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, called the Iraqi parliament to ratify the laws that support the businessmen, calling the businessmen to unite to form independent entity separate from the government.

Hakim said during the 1st Yearly Conference for Businessmen sponsored by the SIIC “Iraq needs to take advantage of the free economy to encourage the private sector,” stressing “The control of the government on the businessmen turns them into ordinary employees who do secondary activities,” noting “The businessmen movement should move far from the bureaucracy to ensure utilizing their expertise.”

“The Commercial Bank and the private sector can be exploited to establish thousands of projects that help reduce the unemployment and support the industrial and commercial projects, and the housing sector through providing loans, and the residential compounds to ease the pressure on the private sector,” he added.

“The solution lies in erecting reliable banks that depend on the state moneys to push the development forwards, so the government have to support these banks to offer the funds and so forth,” Hakim concluded.
