Iraq to negotiate with France to recover 651 million euros for jet payment

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq is trying to recover a 651 million euro (895 million dollar) payment to France for a consignment of Mirage F1 fighter planes that were never delivered, the cabinet’s official spokesman said. “A ministerial committee was recently formed to negotiate with the relevant French parties the recovery of 651 million euros paid in advance under the contract to buy Mirage F1 aircraft that the manufacturers never delivered,” Ali al-Dabbagh said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The cabinet agreed to add a representative of the Iraqi president to the committee formed to negotiate with the French party in regards of recovering the sum of money,” he added.
