Iraqi president starts official visit to Kuwait

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah receives Iraqi President Barham Saleh

Baghdad ( – Iraqi President Barham Saleh started on Sunday an official visit to Kuwait on top of a high-level government delegation.

According to the Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA, the Iraqi president was received at Kuwait International Airport by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, in addition to a host of senior state officials.

Ahead of his official visit to Kuwait, Saleh said he is honored to meet the Kuwait emir and discuss means of boosting cooperation between the two countries.

The visit will include delivering part of Kuwait’s property stored at Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the rest will be delivered in the future, Saleh told Al-Rai earlier newspaper on Saturday.

Saleh further noted that the Iraqi people are determined to cooperate with Kuwait to overcome the painful past and start a new era of development and renaissance.

He also voiced Iraq’s support for Kuwait in light of the damage caused by the recent heavy rains, adding that Iraq is willing to provide any aid needed.
