Issawi, Kobler discuss current political crisis in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Minister of Finance, Rafa al-Issawi, discussed with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, the updates of the political crisis in Iraq and the possible solutions set for it.

A statement by Issawi’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Sunday cited that “Issawi received Kobler where they discussed the demonstrators’ demands and the importance of meeting them by the Iraqi government as they are legitimate and constitutional demands, warning, at the same time from the continuity of the Government’s ignorance to those demands since this will aggravate the situation.”

“For his part, Kobler expressed the United Nations Council’s concerns towards the escalation of the crisis in Iraq, calling all the political sides to conduct quick earnest dialogue so as to get rid of the growing crisis,” the statement concluded.
