Jaf calls parliament to expedite endorsing Elections law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ishwaq al-Jaf, of the Kurdistani Alliance called the parliament to expedite endorsing the Elections law in October or before, assuring that “The delay in endorsing this law will confuse the Independent High Electoral Commission in holding the elections.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, she said “There is no reason to postpone holding the parliamentary elections and this is a positive issue where the parliament conducted the reading to this law draft and will do the second reading.”

She stressed the necessity of “Endorsing this law draft in October or before it to send it to the IHEC to start the preparations to holding the elections,” noting that “Postponing the elections might result in negative consequences on the political process and the citizens.”
