Justice Minister, Iranian Ambassador discuss means of activating mutual deals

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Justice Minister, Hassan al-Shimmari, and the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Hassan Dani, discussed the means of activating the mutual deals between the two countries.

A statement by the Justice Ministry received by IraqiNews.com quoted Shimmari, as saying “The deals with Iran regarding exchanging the prisoners, are legal and constitutional.”

“The number of the Iraqi detainees in the Iranian prisons is 200 and it is the same number regarding to the Iranian detainees in the Iraqi prisons,” he added.

The statement pointed out “Properly, Shimmari to accompany a governmental delegation to visit Iran to discuss the mechanism of activating the mutual deals,” noting that “Shimmari signed an exchange deal to the prisoners with Iran where the Council of Ministers approved it, but the parliament did not agree on it.”
