K-moon: Iraq- Kuwait negotiations achieve progress

Baghdad ( The UN Secretary General, Baan Ki-moon confirmed that Iraq’s discussions with Kuwait concerning reliving it from the UN Charter’s Seventh Chapter reached good stages.

In a mutual press conference held with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, in Baghdad, Ki-moon cited that “The discussions being conducted by Iraq with Kuwait over relieving it from the 7th Chapter of the UN Charter reached advanced stages.”

The UNSG announced that “He will meet with the Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, and the Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi to confer about the current crisis between the Iraqi Central Government and Kurdistan Regional Government.”

The UNGS has arrived on Thursday morning to Baghdad coming from Kuwait where he was received by the Iraqi Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zibari at Baghdad international Airport.
