Khuzayi to US Officials: Presidency to call to hold 1st session of new parliament

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Vice President, Khudair al-Khuzayi, met the US Deputy Secretary of Department of State, Brett H. McGurk and the US Ambassador, Rober Stephen Beecroft, on Wednesday.

A statement by Khuzayi’s office received by Iraqi News quoted him as saying “The Presidency is adherent to the political democratic bath of the political process and to the constitutional schedules.”

“The Presidency will issue a decree within the next two days for the new parliament to convene for its first session,” the statement added.

“Khuzayi calls for more support for Iraq in the military field according the Strategic Framework Agreement concluded the two countries to sustain security in Iraq and the whole Region,” the statement continued.

“For his part, McGurk said that Qaeda and the armed groups are joint enemies and Washington is adherent to support Iraq in its war against terrorism,” the statement concluded.
