Killing of Bin Laden “great blow”, analysts say

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Two MPs and an a political analyst said that the killing of al-Qaeda master-minded Osama bin Laden is a “great blow” to terrorism in general, and Qaeda organization in particular, but it is not the end of the road. National Alliance MP Ali Al-Alaq told IraqiNews.com that “the killing of Bin Laden is a great blow for the organization and its structure”. “There will be problems among the leaderships and will be gradually dismantled, so it will lose its connections, particularly in Iraq“. “The killing is not a surprise, but it took too long,” he added. On the other side, Kurdish Alliance member Mahmoud Othman said that al-Qaeda activities in Iraq were minimized, as well other Arab countries, before his killing. Othman expected that differences within the al-Qaeda will be developed, particularly regarding the man who will replace him. “We want this organization to end in Iraq, because the Iraqis suffered much and its name became detestable”, he added. Political analyst Shamil Abdul Qadir believes that the killing of Bin Laden will shed it shadows on the organization, as a whole, and will limit its influence in many countries like Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said the killing will limit Qaeda activities in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan, while it is expected to be increased in western countries. “All are expecting al-Qaeda possible attacks in Europe and America, not in Iraq or Afghanistan, particularly when President Obama warned the Americans and their allies for expected attacks in the near future”, he added.  A number of Arab and international media broadcasted US president Barack Obama’s speech announcing the killing of Qaeda master-minded Osama bin Laden in a special military operation in Pakistan, in cooperation with the Pakistani government, in a residence complex near Islamabad. Identification of the personality was made through examining his DNA, as reported. RM (TS)/SH 685
