Kurdish MP: Kirkuk bombings prove failure of Dijla Operations Command

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Burhan Mohammed Faraj, of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, described the bombings that took place in Kirkuk on Wednesday as “Un evidence on the failure of Dijla Operations Command to sustain security in the province.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “Kirkuk bombings are clear evidence on the failure of Dijla Operation Commands that is unconstitutional according to Article (61) of the constitution which states that forming any military operations command must be done by the parliament.”

“The Kurds have the right to from Himrin Operations Command to protect the Kurds majority in the disputed areas as Baghdad has the same right to interfere in those areas,” he added, describing the formation of Dijla Operations Commands as “Provocative to other sides.”

Earlier, a number of civilians were killed and injured in Kirkuk province on Wednesday.

A statement by the Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Dhiya al-Wakeel, stated to IraqiNews.com “Four car bombs went off in various areas in Kirkuk province killing and injuring a number of innocent citizens.”
