League of Arab States denounces Turkish bombardment in northern Iraq

( Baghdad – The League of Arab States denounced on Wednesday the Turkish bombardment of northern Iraq, demanding it to respect Iraq’s sovereignty over its territory.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil al-Arabi, said in a statement, “We express our condemnation of the Turkish bombardment on northern Iraq areas,” urging Turkey to “respect Iraq’s sovereignty over its territory.”

Al-Arabi stressed on the “de-escalation, and the use of understanding between the two countries to cooperate in order to address all matters relating to maintaining security and stability of the two countries.”

  1. Some countries do not see the ISIS controlled and held territory as Iraqi sovereign territory because Iraq does not control or hold that territory.
