Legal expert: Iraqi Parliament has no power upon judiciary

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi legal expert, Tariq Harb, stressed that the Iraqi Constitution granted the Parliament the supervisory power upon the executive authority, the independent institutions and Governorates but it did not grant the Parliament power to supervise the judiciary.

Harb added “The Constitution grants the parliament the power to summon the Premier, Ministers and heads of the independent institutions and dismiss them but it is devoid of any item that states in giving the parliament the authority to supervise or interfere in the judiciary’s performance.”
