Legal Expert: No immunity to MPs after cursing others
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The legal expert, Tariq Harb, stated “The constitution does not provide the immunity to the MPs who curse and defame others.”
He stated in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Friday “The immunity mentioned in the constitution is limited, private and divided and not general or unlimited where it is valid till the end of the current electoral term on the 13th of June 2014.”
“The legal procedures against the MPs who defame and curse others can be taken within this term according to Article 63 of the constitution where it provide the immunity to the MPs to express their opinions and not to insult others,” he added.
“The concept of (The Kings Can Do No Wrong) is not longer followed in the constitutions of the world where the MPs are like the other officials who do not have immunity in the constitution to defame others,” he concluded.
