MP calls to experiment replacing Ration Card with sums of money

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqiya Hurra Coalition called not to hastily misjudge the decision of canceling the Ration Card

MP Lubna Raheem of the IHC mentioned that “If the sides which object the decision of replacing the Ration Card with financial grants realize the size of corruption happening in the file of the Ration Card, then they would be the first to demand the cancelation of it.”

“It is painful to see the corrupted officials enjoy the public money of the citizens through the financial corruption and false deals, and at the end the Ration Card arrives to the citizens with very poor food items,” she added.

She suggested “Experimenting the alternative of replacing the Ration Card with financial sums to be distributed on the citizens, and in case it proves to be unsuccessful then we can re-adopt the Ration Card.”

It is worth mentioning that the CoM has announced, on last Tuesday, the replacement of the Ration Card with financial allocations starting from the beginning of the next March, 2013.

It is scheduled the Council of Ministers will hold an urgent session, on this Sunday, to discuss the resolution of canceling the Ration Card where an informed source expected the intention of the CoM to postpone applying this decision.
