MP criticizes Kurds’ tensed reaction towards forming Dijla OC

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Shakir al-Daraji of the State of Law Coalition stressed that the statements of the Kurds against Dijla Operations Command do not serve the political process but rather contribute in escalating the political tensions and affecting the unity of Iraqi people.

Daraji stated to IraqiNews.com that “Each political side interprets the events according to its point of view and benefits,” noting that “Dijla OC is not just a military forces but rather it is a command for military operations.”

“The operations command is an administration for the military operations,” noting that “The operations commands are there in Baghdad and all provinces such as Baghdad Operations Command, Middle Euphrates OC, and the Operations Command of the Iraq’s southern region,” he added.

It is worth to mention that the relations between Baghdad and Erbil witnessed significant tension over the past few days especially after the events that took place on last Friday in Tuz Khormato district associated to Salah il-Din province when elements of Dijla OC clashed with bodyguards of a Kurdish figure in Tikrit city, capital of Salah il-Din resulted in killing a civilian and injuring a number of Dijla OC’s elements.
