New Kurdish Parliament holds 1st session

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Parliament of Iraq’s Kurdistan region on Tuesday held its first session under the chairmanship of Speaker Kamal Karkouki. Today’s session is expected to include a vote on an amendment to the council’s internal regulations, and a decision to increase the number of parliamentary committees from 14 to 18, a media advisor to the speaker, Tareq Gohar, had told Iraqi News. The Kurdish Parliament includes three main blocs: the Kurdistan Bloc (59 seats), the Change Bloc (25 seats) and the Services and Reform Bloc (13 seats). Turkmen, Christian and Armenian minorities hold 11 seats in the 111-member council. SS (P) 1
