Nijaifi threatens to strongly react against Presidency, Cabinet for not applying endorsed laws

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi, criticized the Presidency office and the Council of Ministers for not applying the laws that are ratified by the Parliament where he threatened to strongly react against the two presidencies.

A statement by the media office of the Parliament quoted Nijaifi as saying “We will have a strong response against the CoM and the presidency office for not dealing with the laws that are endorsed by the Parliament,” considering this as an attempt to undermine the performance of the Parliament.”

He stressed “The need to reach agreements concerning the pending significant laws in order to settle and pass them for its significance for the citizens’ lives, noting that “The Parliament has voted on 136 laws during the past period.”

It is worth mentioning that the President, Jalal Talabani, has addressed the Parliament, in support of the resolution of the Supreme Federal Court, over unconstitutionality of submitting law drafts before presenting them to the Government.
