Nusayif urges Kurds to apply fairness in forming military units

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Aliya Nusayif of the Iraqiya Hurra criticized the demands of some Kurdish politicians from the Federal Government to “apply the balance in forming the units of the Iraqi Army while they neglect this principle in forming Kurdish military units.”

She mentioned in a statement received by Iraqi News “High ranks at the leadership of the Iraqi Army have been granted to Kurdish officers for many years, yet, the Kurd politicians demand to apply article nine of the Constitution to apply balance in forming IAF.”

“We have not demanded the Kurds to apply balance in forming Kurdish military units which do not have Arab elements,” MP Nusayif stressed.

“The Kurds have their own government, parliament and Army in Kurdistan Region as well as key posts within the Iraqi Armed Forces in addition to their participation in the Iraqi Federal Government which means they have a government and a half but they insist on applying the principle of balance while forming Iraqi Army,” according to MP Nusayif.

It is worth to mention that some Kurd MPs have demanded to “Apply the principle of balance in forming the units of the Iraqi Army and military establishment.”
