o meeting without reform program – Kurdish opposition

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Kurdish opposition parties disclosed that they will not return to any five-member meetings unless their reform program is implement, President Masoud Barzani reportedly said today. Kurdish Islamic Federation Party polit-bureau member Abu Bakr Karawani said in a joint press conference on behalf of the opposition parties (Change, Islamic Federation and Islamic Group), attended by IraqiNews.com, that they discussed “a number of important issues connected with Kurdistan.” “The opposition will not participate in any meeting with the authority unless the points made by Barzani are fulfilled,” he noted. He confirmed the necessity to provide security for the benefit of the Kurdish people. The Kurdish authority and the opposition offered a 19-point reform program. Observers said that both main Kurdish parties tried to facilitate convening a meeting for all parties, including stopping media statements and a pre-conditioned dialogue. The opposition insisted on having a serious solution through reconciliatory program, without a term to dissolve the government and the parliament as a precondition. RM (TI)/SR 151
