Parliament electoral system to be changed post end of legislative holiday, says legal committee

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament Legal Committee announced that “It will work on changing the parliament elections law after end of the current legislative holiday.

Deputy chief of the committee, Amir al-Kinani told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “We will change the next parliament elections’ law in preparation for conducting the parliament elections 45 days before end of the parliament term on 14th of June, 2014.”

“The federal court had considered this law as illegal for its violations on the voters and nominees’ rights, so it obliged the parliament to change it,” he added.

“The legal committee then is obliged to amend this law because if the elections is conducted without doing the amendment, their results will be challenged and canceled,” Kinani concluded.
