Russian official: Iraq negotiates 2nd weapons deal with Russia

Follow -UP (IraqiNews.com) A Russian official revealed that “Iraq negotiates over conducting a second armament deal with Russia that includes warplanes, armored vehicle and tanks.”

Deputy director of Strategic Studies and Technologies Constantine Machinko said in a press statement “The negotiations are going over providing Iraq with 30 helicopters ME-28 as well as 42 Anti-Airplanes systems in addition to signing a contract to provide Iraq with Jets Meg-21 and armored vehicles.”

“These negotiations prove that Iraq intends to buy Russian weapons despite the American pressure because Iraqi military officers are accustomed to use Russian weapons,” he added.

Earlier, a Russian weapons Company has reported that “The contract with Russia was not implemented.”
