Sadr calls for settling differences between Egypt, Lebanon’s Hezbollah

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr on Friday called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to intervene to settle differences between Egypt and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, adding these differences are “unjustifiable political war on the resistance”. “Believer brothers in Egypt and Lebanon, particularly the brothers in Hezbollah, are coming under unjustifiable pressures. We think that this is a political war that should not be waged,” Sheikh Sohail al-Oqabi, the preacher of the Friday prayers in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, said as he recited a statement by Sadr. “These differences have to be immediately stopped so as to rally our ranks in the face of the greater enemies: Israel, the United States and Britain,” he said. Differences broke out between Egypt and Hezbollah after the Egyptian authorities arrested a cell of members of Hezbollah, accused by Egypt of planning acts of violence at home. AmR (P) 1
