Sadrist MP says parliament will likely count on 2005 elections law

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Spokesman for the Sadrist bloc, Ahmad al-Massoudi, said on Wednesday that the parliament is likely to depend on the elections law which was enacted in 2005 because what he described as Kurds’ blocking to the settlement efforts. “We have agreed on most of the law’s articles except Kirkuk issue,” al-Massoudi told Iraqi News, noting that Kurds reject all solutions on Kirkuk and they waste time to return to the old law which was enacted in 2005. He expects to depend on the 2005 law as there is no time to approve the law. The parliamentary elections will be held on January 16, 2010. SH (P) 1
