Shiekhli, Canadian Ambassador discuss issues related to human rights

Baghdad ( The member of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, Azhar al-Shiekhli, discussed issues related to human rights in Iraq with the Canadian Ambassador in Baghdad on Monday.

A statement by the Committee received by cited “Shiekhli stressed during her meeting with the Ambassador the necessity of supporting the human rights in Iraq by the international community since this issue is among the most prominent files that concerns all the Iraqi society.”

“She also called to support the women’s role in the society through a real representation in the political scene to enable women to upgrade their cultural, economic and social status by endorsing laws in this concern,” the statement added.

“The issue of the death sentence was discussed during the meeting where the Ambassador expressed the international community’s concern over this issue which is not suitable for the human side,” the statement concluded.
