Sihail, UN official discuss formation of National Council for Waters in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Qusai al-Sihail discussed with the Regional Director of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Peter Bachelor, the formation of National Council for Waters in Iraq as well as discussing the problems of the water resources sector, and the recent floods in Iraq.

A statement by Sihail’s office cited “Sihail received Bachelor at his office in Baghdad where Sihail stressed that the law of the National Council for Waters is an important law as it will be responsible for molding strategy to run the waters sector of Iraq, pointing out that “we hope to approve this law during the current term of the parliament.”

“For his part, Bachelor confirmed the UNDP’s eagerness to endorse this law for its importance in settling the problems with the riparian countries with Iraq.
