Supreme Security Committee running disputed areas must be "Independent"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Burhan Mohamed Faraj, of the Kurdistani Alliance pointed out that “The Supreme Security Committee that was proposed during the meetings between the Central Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government to be responsible of the security situation in the disputed areas must be independent and not under the supervision of the General Commander of the Armed Forces.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The Committee will not accomplish justice in case it will be under the supervision of the Commander of the Armed Forces.”

“During the meeting between the CG and the Kurdistan RegionG, both sides agreed upon settling the situation in these areas and to withdraw the forces from them in addition to forming a supreme committee to supervise the security situation in the disputed areas,” he added.

“This committee is necessary but it must be independent,” he concluded.
