Talabani calls for developing Iraqi army

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Friday called on Defense Minister Abdul Qader Jassem to develop Iraqi army’s capabilities, according to the spokesman for the Peshmerga forces. “Talabani met with the defense minister, with whom he stressed the development of the Iraqi army’s capabilities and strengthening ties among its different units to be able to protect Iraq’s security,” Jabar Yawer told IraqiNews.com. “The two officials also discussed preparations to celebrate the Iraqi army day on January 6 th,” he added. Sulaimaniya is located 364 km northeast of Baghdad. SH (P) 1
