Tayfor calls to conduct elections in Kirkuk province on time

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Speaker, Arif Tayfor, called to conduct the local elections in Kirkuk province on time without endorsing a special law for it.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he called the Independent High Electoral Commission to “Complete all the preparations to conduct the local elections in all the provinces of Iraq including Kirkuk province on time.”

“Conducting the local elections in Kirkuk province on time is a democratic process and a right for the citizens of Kirkuk to elect their representatives,” he added.

He criticized “Some sides in Kirkuk province that call to postpone the elections till endorsing a special law for it,” considering it “Unconstitutional and will create disputes because such calls aim to disturb the situation in the province.”
