Turkey: Iraq’s relieving from UN sanctions important step to upgrade Iraq-Turkey relations

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Turkey described Iraq’s relieving from The UN Charter’s Seventh Chapter as an important step towards upgrading the bilateral relations between the two countries and it would help promote the peace and stability in the region.

The UN Security Council voted on last Thursday, on relieving Iraq from the UN Charter’s seventh Chapter.

The Turkish embassy in Baghdad mentioned “We are pleased over this decision which exempted Iraq from the UN sanctions enlisted in the UN Charter’s 7th Chapter.”

The Turkish embassy commended the cooperation and the constructive efforts exerted by the Iraqi and the Kuwaiti sides to issue this resolution, noting “This decision represents significant step in direction of strengthening the neighborly relations between Iraq and Turkey and would help stabilize the tensed situation in the region.”

“Our country will continue supporting the efforts to resolve the problems between Iraq and Turkey as soon as possible,” according to the statement.
