UN Security Council supports Iraq’s fight against terrorism. Urges formation of a national government

A(IraqiNews.com) The UN Security Council stressed their ongoing commitment to support the Iraqi government in its war against terrorism while expressing hope for the formation of a national government in Iraq that represent all its people.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said, in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, that “the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the UN, Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with the President of the UN Security Council league,” noting that “the Permanent Representative presented during the meeting, a detailed explanation about the political and military developments taking place in the Iraq, including the measures taken by the Iraqi government to fight the groups affiliated with terrorist organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.”

The statement added that “the Permanent Representative stressed the need to adhere the activation of the UN Security Council Resolutions numbered 2161 and 1267. In addition to all decisions regarding the fight against terrorism.”
