Zebari, Kobler discuss relieving Iraq from 7th Chapter

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Affairs Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, met, Martin Kobler, head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “The relations of IraqKuwait were discussed and ways to overcome obstacles to get Iraq out of Chapter VII in the light of his recent report to the Security Council on the functions and mandate of the UN Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

“They also discussed Iraq‘s relations with the United Nations and the Security Council to move forward to fulfill its international obligations and end all issues governed by Chapter VII with Kuwait,” the statement mentioned.

“In addition to that Foreign Minister discussed with the UN official the Convention on the headquarters of the UN mission in Iraq and the programs and future plans of the mission in the country,” the statement stressed.

“Zebari also met Director of United Nations Development Program Mrs. Helen Clark at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry,” the statement continued.

“They discussed programs and plans of the organization in Iraq to achieve sustainable development and administrative reform in the public sector, the management of water resources, the fight against poverty and the empowerment of women and youth,” the statement added.

“They also discussed the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in Iraq, and the program’s role in helping the concerned ministries,” the statement concluded.
