 Iraq agrees to create new border port with Iran

(IraqiNews.com) Wasit – Wasit Province announced on Friday the approval of eight ministries in the central government to establish Shihabi border port with Iran but the project is still missing the needed funding, while pointed out that the new port will have a positive impact on the economy of the province.

The Governor of Wasit, Khalaf al-Wadi, said in a brief statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “The representatives of eight federal ministries visited Wasit to check the proposed site to establish Shihabi port (about 45 km east of Sheikh Saad area).”

Wadi added, “The representatives of those ministries met in Wasit to discuss the related technical and administrative procedures to the establishment of Shihabi border port.”
