Kurdish-German water management system at $20m

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: The Kurdistan Authority for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research has launched work on the first stage of a strategic project to build an integrated system for water management in the region at a cost of $20 million U.S. dollars. “The estimated completion period of the project is 10-15 years,” the head of the authority, Bola Azad Abdullah, told Iraqi News. The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources in the region and the German universities of Freiburg and Gottingen, Abdullah explained. “A study on groundwater in Karmiyan and Balisan areas will be conducted with a budget of $1 million,” the official noted.
