Ministry aims for gas self-sufficiency

BAGHDAD / The Iraqi Ministry of Oil on Sunday said that it is moving forward with plans to achieve gas self-sufficiency in the country through the production of 12 million liters a day. “The ministry has given instructions with regards to the distribution of oil derivatives in provinces and a plan to increase production and reach self-sufficiency…,” a ministry statement received by news agency quoted an undersecretary of state for distribution affairs, Motasem Akram, as saying. The ministry is currently able to meet the needs of local consumption, Akram noted. SS (P) 1
