MP reveals reasons behind postponing vote on 2013 federal budget

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the parliament Finance Committee, MP Hassan Ozmen revealed that the main reason for not reached an agreement over the Federal Budget of 2013 is the insistence of the Kurdistani Alliance on including the request of the dues payment for the oil companies operating in Kurdistan Region in the Budget draft.

Ozmen told Iraqi News “The KA’s insistence on enrolling the financial dues of the foreign oil companies in Kurdistan Region within 2013 budget was behind postponing the vote on the Federal Budget during the parliament’s session of Monday.”

“The failure to complete the scrutiny process by the Financial Supervision Board which has visited Kurdistan Region in recent, is another reason for not settling the controversial points accompanying the Federal Budget,” he added.

Finance Committee’s member ruled out “near agreement on the 2013 budget project due to the MPs’ preoccupation in their provinces’ affairs which they will visit in next week.”
