U.S. delegation of 15 major firms visits Iraq this month

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The U.S. Department of Commerce is sending a delegation of 15 major firms to Iraq this month for a visit, the first of its kind since the end of U.S. combat missions in the war-torn country, according to CNN. “The companies include General Electric, Boeing and energy giant Warmer Engineering as well as other U.S. oil companies,” a U.S. commerce official said. The U.S. all-news network quoted a State Department official as terming Iraq’s infrastructure needs as “exceptional”. The Iraqi government has appropriated more than $80 billion for infrastructure projects, the official said, adding the U.S. firms are well aware of the business sector opportunities available in Iraq.
