Abadi tours Tikrit streets, raises Iraqi flag downtown

(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi toured in streets of the city of Tikrit after its liberation from ISIS control, and raised the Iraqi flag downtown the city.

Abadi’s office said in a statement issued today, and received by IraqiNews.com, “Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi toured today the streets of Tikrit near the provincial council and presidential palaces,” noting that, “He raised the Iraqi flag downtown the city.”

The office added, “Al-Abadi praised the courage and sacrifices made by all the Iraqi troops that have contributed to the liberation of the city, while stressed that the victories were achieved by the Iraqi hands that are determined to liberate every inch of Iraq.”

  1. This is great news and thanks to the Iraqi Armed Forces and with the Iraqi Air Force plus the International Coalition Air Forces helping. I do know that my country’s Air Force was there at Tikrit helping Iraq even though IraqiNews did not mention it.

    Tikrit shows what can be achieved and the harder objective in liberating Mosul could also be achieved. I look forward to reading about that later in IraqiNews and by the looks of what has already been done and prepared at Mosul it will be happening soon.
