Basra’s agricultural situation witness clear decline in 2012, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Mansour al-Timimi of the State of Law Coalition, a representative of Basra province stressed that the province witnessed clear decline in the agricultural situation during 2012.

Timimi stated that “Basra province has not witnessed over the past years such a retreat in the agricultural sector represented by retreating of the agrarian areas and damaging a lot of plants.”

“The province’s reliance on importing the agrarian crops from the neighboring countries besides lack of earnestness in addressing the problems and the incorrect agrarian policy led to deteriorating the agricultural posture,” he concluded.
