(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Dozens of peasants demonstrated on Wednesday in the center of Baghdad to demand their rights, threatening to sit in the event of non-implementation of their demands.

The reporter of IraqiNews.com said: ”dozens of peasants demonstrated this morning in Paradise Square in central Baghdad to demand their rights,” noting that, “the security forces closed the roads leading to the square to protect the demonstrators.”

The reporter added that the demonstrators chanted angry slogans demanding their rights, explaining that they are demanding the integration of the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources and the payment of farmers’ dues of wheat and providing fertilizer.

The reporter stated that the demonstrators stressed that the peasants are suffering from big problems led to the deterioration and decline in agricultural production in Baghdad and the Iraqi provinces, most notably water scarcity, military operations and the lack of support from the agricultural fertilizer and mechanization.
