(IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, House Speaker Salim al-Jubouri expected that the government would reduce salaries over the next two months if oil prices continued to decline, stressing that the situation in Iraq is alarming, especially on the economic side.

Jubouri said in an interview with Russia Today followed by IraqiNews.com, “Iraq is going through a difficult economic situation and it might see in the next two months a state of impasse if oil prices continue to decline,” noting that, “Iraq needs a clear program and quick actions by the government.”

Jubouri stated, “The economic crisis made Iraq think to open new non-oil economic or agricultural prospects, but so far Iraq is still dependent on oil,” adding that, “Iraq is making an effort to address the crisis and may be forced to take other measures with the help of other countries to overcome it.”
