Iraqi PM says increasing agricultural production “top priority”

Baghdad ( – Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said on Saturday that the increase of the agricultural products is a “top priority” of his government as the country still seeks to recover from destruction caused by Islamic State militant group.

The agricultural industry represents “a permanent wealth of Iraq,” Abdul-Mahdi said while visiting an exhibition of agricultural products in Baghdad.

“Today, we witness a development in this (agricultural) sector,” Alghad Press quoted Abdul-Mahdi as saying.

He further called on those who work in the agricultural industry to take “serious steps towards increasing and improving agricultural production.”
