Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi president Barham Salih has stressed the importance of promoting cooperation ties between Iraq and China in different fields.

During a meeting with China’s ambassador to Iraq Zhang Tao at the As Salam palace in Baghdad, Salih reiterated “deeply-rooted and historic relations between the two countries,” stressing that cooperation ties between the two countries should be “expanded to serve interests of the Iraqi and Chinese peoples.”

The Chinese ambassador, meanwhile, voiced his country’s desire to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in the oil and railway sectors.

“China is keen on supporting Iraq to achieve its development goals,” Zhang said.
