Baghdad ( – Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi will start a five-state regional tour next month, his first major solo trip since he assumed office in October last year.

Abdul Mahdi will make stops in each of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran and Turkey as part of his April’s tour, Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar reported Wednesday.

According to the paper, the tour aims at maintaining Baghdad’s balanced relations with the regional partners, without “jeopardizing ties with Damascus.”
