Anbar (IraqiNews.com) – Four Islamic State terrorists were killed Tuesday during a security operation in the Iraqi province of Anbar, said Ahmed al-Mahallawi, the mayor of the border town of al-Qaim.

“Security forces, backed by a force of the Tribal Mobilization Forces, spotted an armored vehicle carrying four Islamic State terrorists at a desert area between al-Qaim and Haditha districts in western Anbar,” al-Mahallawi told Iraqi website Almaalomah.

“The troops immediately opened fire at the vehicle, killing the four terrorists,” he added, noting that the security operation was launched based on accurate intelligence data.

Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence in November 2017 with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.
